SCM Microsystems to Showcase World Class Smart Card Reader Portfolio and CHIPDRIVE Solutions at CeBIT 2007

FREMONT, Calif., March 6, 2007 – SCM Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMM, Prime Standard: SMY), a leading provider of solutions that open the Digital World, will present its broad range of contact and contactless smart card readers and terminals for secure exchange of electronic information at this year’s CeBIT from 15-21 March 2007.
With the slogan “New technologies – Innovative solutions for emerging smart card applications,” SCM will demonstrate how its readers enable an array of highly secure smart card applications, including PC and network access, online financial transactions, secure physical access, as well as personal ID for various government programs.
SCM will be spotlighting its sophisticated hardware and software solutions for secure contactless readout of confidential data in international travel documents using RFID technology (e-Passports). In addition, the company will highlight its solutions for the German electronic health card program. SCM Microsystems is the first manufacturer to develop a Secure Interoperable Chip Card Terminal (SICCT) that fulfills all health card program requirements and is providing its terminals for field tests in Germany. Demonstrations of a new generation of smart card readers for home-banking and for the German GeldKarte will complete SCM’s smart card reader line up at CeBIT.
The focus of SCM’s CHIPDRIVE® booth will be new specialty solutions including: CHIPDRIVE® Time Recording Network; CHIPDRIVE® Driver Card Module for the read-out and transfer of transportation data from digital driver cards; and CHIPDRIVE® Secure Stick, which automatically protects the privacy and sensitive data of notebook users.
